Montgomery Barron’s
Session with Keith Haring is the second publication in a series of postcard
books, a special format designed by Holzwarth Publications to provide
a broader and more personal acquaintance with the works of its artists.
The
photographer Jeannette Montgomery Barron (born 1956 in Atlanta/USA)
met Keith Haring in his New York studio in 1985. This encounter between
the two artists led to a series of photographs that are being published
here for the first time.
Montgomery Barron photographed many artists,
among them friends and colleagues like Andy Warhol and Cindy Sherman.
The pictorial dialogue between the
meticulously observing Montgomery Barron and the stylized icon Haring
unfolds its own special appeal in this series. For Montgomery Barron,
observation
is a means of immersing herself in her subject. Being observed enables
Haring to play with perception in a way that often seeps through his
works. The series invites us to take part in this encounter and to
let all of
its messages come to life again.
